In 1879 this residence, named “Lanark House” was built for Alexander Greenshields, a prominent local identity and outstanding gardener.
In 1901 it was acquired by Sidney Kidman, the famous “Cattle King” who renamed the property “Eringa”.
In 1921 Sir Sidney donated it to the education department for use as a high school.
Enrolment has grown from 50 (1922) to the current figure of 400 (1997).
